Hello again! I would like to give you all a good internet resource that you may find helpful throughout the year:
http://dictionary.reference.com/
Whenever you are unsure of a word, you can type it into the space at the top of this site. You will get a few meanings of the word, some examples of how it can be used in a sentence, and you can even hear how the word is spoken (click the "speaker" button next to the word with the sound on your computer turned on). If you misspell the word when you type it in, the site will give you a list of words that you might be trying to find.
Now look at the very top of the site: you can see the words "thesaurus" and "encyclopedia." A thesaurus is a tool that will give you the homonyms of a word you type in. A homonym is a word with the same meaning as another word. You can use homonyms to make your writing more interesting and creative! Try using the thesaurus to find some homonyms when you write throughout the year.
Finally, the encyclopedia can give you information about any topic you are interested in. If you ever need to know more about anything--a country, an animal, a person, anything--you can use an encyclopedia to learn more information.
Dictionary.com is very useful! I hope you have a chance to use it this year!
