Biomes and Ecosystems

In science next week, we are going to start talking about biomes and ecosystems.  What are biomes and ecosystems, you ask?  Well, you can get started exploring what they are at this website:

http://www.mbgnet.net/

When you click on the different biomes at the top, it will take you to a page with more information on the left-hand side.  You can learn about the type of land, weather, plants, and animals in each biome.  From exploring the page, can you come up with a definition of what a biome is?  You can leave your guess in a comment here on our class blog!

You can also explore different kinds of water ecosystems.  Try to define "ecosystem," too!  Water ecosystems are just one type of ecosystem.  Try to guess what other type of ecosystems you might find in different biomes.

We will of course talk about this in more detail in class next week.  However, if you would like to get a head start, leave a comment on what you think a biome or ecosystem is.  I will have a small prize on Monday for anyone who guesses correctly!
